S.B. 2554 Summary

• Requires the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to disseminate seizure first aid information to employers, employees, and the general public through exhibitions, broadcasts, lectures, pamphlets, and other methods.

• Mandates all employers post seizure first aid information provided by the department in a prominent position in their workplace.

• Defines "seizure first aid" as procedures to respond to, attend to, and provide comfort and safety to a person experiencing a primary generalized tonic-clonic seizure or complex partial seizure, excluding medical treatment training.

• Authorizes the department to adopt rules under chapter 91 of Hawaii Revised Statutes to implement the new seizure first aid requirements.

• Takes effect July 1, 2020.
