SB2750 Summary

• Repeals the requirement that noncarbonated bottled water be transported, stored, processed, or bottled through lines or equipment used exclusively for water.

• Allows beverage companies that produce carbonated soft drinks, juice, or beer to use the same equipment to can noncarbonated bottled water, provided proper antimicrobial treatment is applied.

• Maintains existing requirements that bottled water undergo effective germicidal treatment by ozonation or carbonation at a minimum of three volumes of carbon dioxide, or other equivalent disinfection approved by the department.

• Preserves the prohibition on transporting or storing bottled water in bulk tanks or processing it through equipment previously used for nonfood products.

• Takes effect upon approval.
