HI SB2793

Establishes a new misdemeanor offense of promoting a dangerous drug in the fourth degree for possession of any dangerous drug in amounts under two grams.

Amends the existing class C felony offense of promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree to apply only to possession of dangerous drugs in amounts of two grams or more.

Reclassifies low-level drug possession offenses from felony to misdemeanor status to reduce prison overcrowding and shift resources toward treatment programs.

Takes effect on August 1, 2020.
