• Recognizes and supports collaborative efforts between the Department of Health, Hep Free Hawaii, and other stakeholders to develop Hawaii's first statewide plan to eliminate viral hepatitis.

• Acknowledges that approximately 63,000 individuals in Hawaii may be affected with hepatitis B or C, and that Hawaii has one of the highest rates of liver cancer in the nation.

• Highlights current state initiatives including expanded Med-QUEST access to hepatitis C medications, syringe access programs, support for at-risk pregnant women, and hepatitis A immunization for homeless communities.

• Directs that the statewide elimination plan, including implementation strategies and recommended legislation, be presented to the Legislature at an informational briefing prior to the 2021 Regular Session.

• Requires certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Director of Health, and other relevant health officials.
