Law Enforcement Standards Board requested to conduct a study evaluating consolidation of law enforcement activities from the Department of Public Safety, Department of Land and Natural Resources, and Department of Transportation into a single state department.

Study should examine the potential for establishing a centralized certification process for all law enforcement officers in the State.

Resolution notes that law enforcement functions are currently spread across multiple departments with varying administration, operations, management standards, and training requirements.

Consolidation into a single entity would promote uniform standards for law enforcement services and officers across Hawaii.

Certified copies to be transmitted to the Governor, Director of Public Safety, Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources, and Director of Transportation.
