S.C.R. No. 201 Summary

• Request commercial refuse collection companies in urban Honolulu (Honolulu Disposal Service, West Oahu Aggregate, and Aloha Waste of Honolulu) to establish a task force addressing noise from early morning trash collection in Waikiki and Kakaako-Ala Moana neighborhoods.

• Task force membership includes representatives from the three refuse collection companies, Department of Health's Noise Section, City's Department of Environmental Services Refuse Division, one state senator, one state representative, and chairpersons of Waikiki and Kakaako-Ala Moana Neighborhood Boards.

• Task force may invite additional experts or organizations to participate in developing noise mitigation solutions.

• Task force must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2021 Regular Session convenes.

• Certified copies to be transmitted to legislative leadership, relevant government agencies, neighborhood boards, and the three refuse collection companies.
