S.C.R. 215 Summary

• Requests the Department of Agriculture to update lease agreements for lands used under Act 90, Session Laws of Hawaii 2003, which transferred management of agricultural public lands from the Department of Land and Natural Resources to the Department of Agriculture.

• Directs the Department of Agriculture, Board of Agriculture, and Board of Land and Natural Resources to hold a public hearing to review and update leases related to management of existing non-agricultural park lands under Act 90.

• Requires the Department of Agriculture to submit a report to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2021 Regular Session convenes on the status of entering into updated lease agreements with the Department of Land and Natural Resources.

• Mandates a collaborative report from the Department of Agriculture and Department of Land and Natural Resources documenting compliance efforts, including a list of all lands transferred, all lands not yet transferred with explanations, and any proposed legislation needed.
