S.C.R. NO. 218 - Tree Awareness Month

• Designates April as Tree Awareness Month in the State of Hawaii.

• Recognizes trees as critical tools for combating climate change, improving air quality, reducing carbon footprint, and supporting healthier communities.

• Acknowledges benefits of trees including cooling urban heat islands by up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit, improving public health outcomes, raising property values, and supporting Hawaii's tourism and agricultural economy.

• Directs transmission of certified copies of the concurrent resolution to the Governor, Chair of Board of Land and Natural Resources, and all county mayors.
