S.C.R. No. 8 Summary

• Department of Health is requested to convene a task force to create a format for a comprehensive annual report on violence against women to identify the best policy approaches to reduce such violence.

• Task force membership includes the Director of Health (chair), Directors of Human Services and Judiciary, Attorney General, county prosecuting attorneys and police chiefs, Executive Director of the Sex Abuse Treatment Center, Hawaii State Coalition Against Domestic Violence representative, and Hōkela Nā Pua representative.

• Task force shall review each agency's existing databases on violence against women, identify data gaps, determine what law or policy updates are needed to consolidate data, and develop a framework for the annual report.

• Task force must submit initial findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2021 Regular Session, with a follow-up report due before the 2022 Regular Session.

• Department of Health is requested to provide administrative support for the task force.
