Urges all state departments to purchase Hawaii-grown produce when available instead of imported alternatives.

Identifies approximately 3,600 crop farms operating in Hawaii producing avocados, bananas, guava, papayas, tomatoes, corn, lettuce, potatoes, taro, and other produce.

Cites benefits of local procurement including reducing carbon footprint through decreased food transportation, supporting local economy and small businesses including family and veteran-owned farms, and increasing transparency in the food system.

Notes that reliance on imported food creates vulnerability to natural disasters and other catastrophic events.

Directs certified copies be sent to the Governor, Comptroller, Board of Agriculture Chair, and heads of other relevant state departments and agencies.
