S.R. No. 76 Summary

• Requests the Department of Health's Developmental Disabilities Division maintain services for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities regardless of medical, behavioral needs, or dual diagnoses with mental illness under Chapter 333F, Hawaii Revised Statutes.

• Directs the Division to review the state's statutory definition of "developmental disabilities" compared to other states and study impacts of changing the definition.

• Requires the Division to discuss general eligibility issues and identify gap groups currently ineligible for developmental disabilities services who are part of the intellectual and developmental disabilities population.

• Requests strategies to meet increasing needs of the intellectual and developmental or physical disabilities population, including identifying appropriate safety net processes and services for identified gap groups.

• Mandates submission of findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the 2021 Regular Session.
