H.B. 1030 Summary

• Repeals the definition of "committee" from Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 197-1, which previously referred to aquatic life and wildlife advisory committees established in each county.

• Reduces the animal species advisory commission from thirteen to nine members by eliminating the requirement that chairpersons of aquatic life and wildlife advisory committees serve on the commission.

• Repeals Section 197-4 in its entirety, which established aquatic life and wildlife advisory committees in each county, defined their composition, meeting procedures, and advisory functions.

• Finds that the aquatic life and wildlife advisory committees have rarely convened or been needed and are outdated, while maintaining that the animal species advisory commission retains sufficient representation to carry out its duties.

• Takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
