HB 373 Summary

• Adds a new section to Chapter 249, Hawaii Revised Statutes authorizing special license plates for Hawaii Civil Air Patrol members and former members.

• Requires applicants to provide proof of membership or former membership in the Hawaii Civil Air Patrol and pay a fee to receive one set of special plates.

• Plates must display "HAWAII CIVIL AIR PATROL" on the left side in a style similar to congressional and honorary consul license plates.

• Plates are non-transferable and must be surrendered to the director of finance before vehicle ownership transfer, except survivors may retain the front plate as a memorial.

• Plates may only be assigned to noncommercial passenger motor vehicles, motorcycles, or motor scooters registered in the qualified applicant's name.
