H.B. 795 Summary

• Department of Defense shall conduct a vulnerability study to identify areas in Hawaii that should be protected by decorative bollards (sturdy posts designed to prevent vehicles from entering sidewalks).

• Study shall include recommendations for appropriate sources of funding for bollard installation.

• Department of Defense may consult with FBI Honolulu field office, Hawaii Tourism Authority, state fusion center, all county police departments, Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association, Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, and Waikiki Improvement Association.

• Department of Defense must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the legislature no later than twenty days before the 2022 regular session convenes.
