Department of Land and Natural Resources requested to convene a task force to resolve jurisdictional and operational issues at the Hanapepe Chinese, Filipino, and Portuguese Cemetery on Kauai (Tax Map Key: 4-1-8-008:018).

Task force to examine outstanding jurisdictional issues regarding cemetery use, steps needed to resume burials, and other identified issues; burials were halted in July 2020 after no executive order was found authorizing the cemetery's use.

Task force membership to include the Governor, DLNR Board Chairperson, Director of Health, Comptroller, Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Mayor of Kauai, Kauai County Council committee chair, and Director of Parks and Recreation of Kauai, among others.

Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources to serve as task force chair; task force members exempt from Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 84 conflict of interest provisions.

Task force to submit findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2022 Regular Session; task force to dissolve on June 30, 2022.
