HI HCR93

Urges all law enforcement officers and prosecuting attorneys in Hawaii to vigorously enforce and prosecute offenses committed against essential workers while on the job.

Identifies essential workers as those in healthcare, grocery and food service, hospitality, airline travel, and ground transportation who face high levels of face-to-face public interaction.

Recognizes that essential workers are required to communicate and enforce government-enacted emergency rules and orders to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addresses the problem of essential workers being harassed or physically confronted by individuals who refuse to follow emergency rules and orders.

Requires certified copies of the resolution to be transmitted to the Chief of Police and Prosecuting Attorney of each county.
