Request the Auditor to conduct a review of the technology resources and efficacy of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

Auditor shall make recommendations on how the department can improve services to the public and identify additional resources needed for implementation.

Resolution notes the department processes unemployment insurance applications on a mainframe computer system installed in the early 1980s with upgrades completed approximately five years prior.

Long-term system modernization is not expected to be implemented until 2022 at the earliest, with current workarounds including separate online portals updated by the aging mainframe.

Auditor must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2022 Regular Session convenes.
