Requests the Department of Land and Natural Resources to convene a task force to resolve jurisdictional and operational issues at the Hanapepe Chinese, Filipino, and Portuguese Cemetery located on state-owned property (Tax Map Key 4-1-8-001:018) on Kauai.

Task force must examine outstanding jurisdictional issues, steps needed to resume burials at the cemetery, and any other related issues, as the Department of Health halted burial permits in July 2020 due to unclear management authority.

Task force membership to include the Governor, Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources (serving as chair), Director of Health, Comptroller, County of Kauai Mayor, County Parks and Recreation Director, and other designated officials.

Members of the task force are exempted from Chapter 84, Hawaii Revised Statutes conflict of interest requirements for their participation.

Task force must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2022 Regular Session convenes; task force dissolves June 30, 2022.
