S.B. 1179 Summary

• Allocates 2% or $1,360,000 (whichever is less) of annual conveyance tax revenues to the conservation and resources enforcement special fund established under section 199-1.5.

• Expands the allowable uses of the conservation and resources enforcement special fund to include permanent and temporary staff positions for the division.

• Establishes a clear nexus between conveyance tax collections and natural resource protection by dedicating a portion of real estate transaction taxes to fund conservation enforcement activities.

• Allows fund expenditures for training, research, equipment, data collection, information technology, safety, communications, operations, maintenance, and consultants related to enforcement of state conservation laws.

• Takes effect July 1, 2050.
