HI SB12

Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 226-19(b) to require the Hawaii Public Housing Authority and Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation to accomplish eight specific housing objectives.

Mandates the agencies to accommodate housing needs, stimulate affordable housing for extremely low- to above moderate-income households, and increase homeownership and rental opportunities.

Requires promotion of improvement and rehabilitation of existing housing, appropriate design and location of developments, and utilization of vacant and underutilized urban lands for housing.

Directs agencies to foster neighborhoods reflecting Hawaii's traditional culture and values and to promote research and development of methods to reduce housing construction costs.

Takes effect on July 1, 2050.
