S.B. 1347 - Sex Trafficking Prevention Training

• Department of Education must offer training to teachers, educational officers, and school-based behavioral health specialists on sex trafficking prevention and response.

• Training shall cover methods used to lure children into trafficking, identifying victims, health impacts on victims, effects on different racial/ethnic groups and LGBTQ+ youth, prevention strategies, trauma-informed response techniques, victim resources, and information on consent and sexual violence.

• Department must make available explanatory information about approved protocols for serving sex trafficking victims at the beginning of each school year to school staff.

• Department may coordinate and contract with state/county agencies, victim service providers, or other sex trafficking experts to implement the training requirements.

• Act takes effect upon approval.
