Requires all teachers, principals, and school counselors in Hawaii to complete at least two hours of suicide prevention education training each school year as part of in-service training requirements.

Training materials must be approved by the Department of Education and can be completed through provision and completion of department-approved suicide prevention materials.

Addresses Hawaii's suicide crisis, where one person dies by suicide every two days on average and suicide is the leading cause of death for young people ages 15-24.

Modeled after the Jason Flatt Act passed in Tennessee in 2007, with 20 other states having adopted similar variations of the legislation.

Takes effect upon approval.
