SB756 Summary

• Requires places of public accommodation with at least 100 parking spaces to have at least one EV charging space by July 1, 2012, and at least five spaces per 100 stalls by January 1, 2025.

• New EV charging systems installed after January 1, 2022 must be at least Level 2 charging stations that are network capable, with reasonable efforts required to maintain them in working order.

• Authorizes each county to adopt ordinances enforcing EV parking requirements and establishing penalties for non-compliance; allows law enforcement and commissioned volunteer officers to access private property to enforce these provisions.

• Establishes an electric vehicle charging system subaccount within the public utilities commission special fund and reallocates 3 cents per barrel from the petroleum product tax to fund an EV charging system rebate program.

• Effective date of July 1, 2050.
