• Removes the July 1, 2019 sunset date from the exemption allowing licensed classroom teachers and teacher trainees to implement applied behavior analysis services in school settings when working in direct collaboration with a licensed behavior analyst or licensed psychologist, making the exemption permanent.

• Clarifies that licensed classroom teachers may implement but not design applied behavior analysis services, and expands exemption language to include individuals enrolled in teacher preparation programs working toward licensure.

• Streamlines paragraph (4) to specify that individuals credentialed as registered behavior technicians by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board may directly implement applied behavior analysis services under direction of a licensed behavior analyst or licensed psychologist.

• Removes obsolete exemption language for direct support workers with a January 1, 2020 sunset date and retains existing exemptions for other practitioners including psychologists, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and family members or caregivers acting under professional direction.

• Takes effect July 1, 2021.
