Cites 2019 University of Richmond study showing students unable to afford menstrual products were 5.89 times more likely to miss school and 5.82 times more likely to be late compared to those who could afford them.

Notes that 47 percent of Hawaii public school students in 2019-2020 were economically disadvantaged and approximately 60 percent of Hawaii families struggle to meet basic needs according to the 2020 ALICE Report.
