Requests the Department of Land and Natural Resources to convene a task force to resolve jurisdictional and operational issues at the Hanapepe Chinese, Filipino, and Portuguese Cemetery on Kauai (Tax Map Key (4) 1-8-008:018).

Cemetery operations halted in July 2020 after no executive order was found authorizing its use and no government agency established protocols for burials, causing disruption including at least one case where a husband could not be buried with his wife.

Task force to examine outstanding jurisdictional issues, steps needed to resume burials, and any other identified problems, with the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources serving as chair.

Task force membership includes the Governor, Director of Health, Comptroller, Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Mayor of Kauai, Kauai County Council chair, Parks and Recreation director, and other designated officials.

Task force must submit findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2022 Regular Session convenes and dissolves on June 30, 2022.
