Recognizes October 11, 2021, as the International Day of the Girl in Hawaii, following the United Nations designation of October 11th as an annual observance beginning in 2011

Acknowledges that girls worldwide face disproportionate risk of discrimination and violence including cultural, social, sexual, economic exploitation, abuse, rape, incest, honor-related crimes, child marriage, and female genital mutilation

Notes that discrimination and violence against girls results in reduced access to quality education, nutrition, and physical and mental health care, limiting their development and opportunities compared to boys

Emphasizes that empowering girls requires active support from parents, guardians, families, boys, men, and the wider community to break cycles of discrimination and violence

Directs transmission of a certified copy of the resolution to the Governor
