Act 49 (2017) allocated $1,500,000 in general obligation bonds for planning, design, and construction of the Kaū water system

Phase 1 includes design and construction of a 100,000-gallon water storage tank on Hawaiian home lands, with $500,000 in Hawaiian Homes Commission trust funds approved for construction

Phase 2 is expected to include repair and replacement of pressure reducing valve stations; Phase 3 will include waterline relocation, installation of water meters, fire protection, and subdivision of 25 pastoral lots

Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, in conjunction with County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply, is requested to submit a progress report to the Legislature by June 30, 2021

Certified copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to the Governor, Chairperson of the Hawaiian Homes Commission, and Manager of the County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply
