Request the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism and the Executive Office of Aging to conduct a study on the necessity and feasibility of a senior living center in the Ka'u district, in coordination with the County of Hawaii Office of Aging.

Study shall be completed and a report submitted to the Legislature and County of Hawaii Office of the Mayor no later than January 1, 2022.

Hawaii's senior population (age 65+) currently comprises seventeen percent of the state's population and is expected to increase, with Hawaii having the highest life expectancy in the United States for those over 65.

Study shall utilize data from the 2020 Decennial Census, available beginning October 2021, to assess the older adult population's needs in the Ka'u district.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the County of Hawaii Office of the Mayor, Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism, Office of Aging, and County of Hawaii Office of Aging.
