Urges the University of Hawaii System and Department of Education to include training, courses, and curricula on mechanics, repair, and maintenance of electric vehicles, hydrogen vehicles, and other alternative fuel vehicles in their programs.

Notes Hawaii has over 10,000 electric vehicles on the road and ranks in the top five states nationally for electric vehicle adoption by percentage of vehicles purchased.

States that only three percent of automotive technicians currently have the skill set to work on electric vehicles, despite the need for special tools, safety equipment, and specialized training.

Identifies the transportation sector as accounting for over two-thirds of oil imported into the State, with drivers spending approximately $2 billion annually on gasoline and diesel fuel.

Directs certified copies of the resolution to be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Board of Regents of the University of Hawaii, President of the University of Hawaii System, Chairperson of the Board of Education, and Superintendent of Education.
