Request that the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply jointly provide a progress report on the Kāū water system development.

Phase 1 involves design and construction of a 100,000-gallon water storage tank on Hawaiian home lands, with $1.5 million in general obligation bonds allocated under Act 49 (2017) and $500,000 in Hawaiian Homes Commission trust funds approved for construction.

Phase 2 is expected to include repair and replacement of pressure reducing valve stations.

Phase 3 is expected to include relocation of existing waterlines from leased lots to South Point Road right-of-way, installation of new water meters, fire protection infrastructure, and subdivision of 25 pastoral lots.

Progress report must be submitted to the Legislature by June 30, 2021, with certified copies to be sent to the Governor, Hawaiian Homes Commission Chairperson, and County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply Manager.
