Department of Land and Natural Resources is requested to formulate a five-year plan to ensure project reviews by the State Historic Preservation Division occur within a four-month timeframe.

Resolution addresses the backlog of proposed projects requiring historic preservation review under Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 6E-42 before state and county approval, permits, and licenses can be issued.

State Historic Preservation Division is urged to review proposed projects expeditiously while maintaining consideration for significant historic properties consistent with existing practices.

Department of Land and Natural Resources must submit a report to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2022 Regular Session detailing the status and progress of the five-year plan and an organizational chart of the State Historic Preservation Division.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources and Director of the State Historic Preservation Division.
