Request the Department of Land and Natural Resources and County of Hawaii to collaborate on identifying sea level rise impacts at Kahaluu Bay and develop a master plan to relocate the pavilion away from the shoreline.

Master plan should address sea level rise projections, continuous damage to existing walls and facilities, and creation of a safe public environment.

Kahaluu Bay is Hawaii County's top visited beach park with 437,000 visitors between 2015 and 2016 and holds significant cultural and historic value to native Hawaiian communities.

2008 Kahaluu Beach Park Conceptual Master Plan identified the current pavilion as vulnerable to wave action, storm damage, and sea level rise impacts due to its proximity to the shoreline.

Direct certified copies of the resolution to the Hawaii Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission, County of Hawaii Planning Department, and County of Hawaii Division of Parks and Recreation.
