Department of Hawaiian Home Lands is requested to conduct an analysis and provide data on beneficiaries who have applied for and need housing, categorized by county, income classification, and preferred unit type.

Data requested must include beneficiaries not previously represented because they could not be contacted or never applied for a housing lease.

Department must submit housing needs data for the period 2021-2025 to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2022 Regular Session convening, formatted consistent with Table 33 of the 2019 Hawaii Housing Planning Study.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Hawaiian Homes Commission, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and Executive Director of the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation.

Over 28,000 beneficiaries remain on the homestead waitlist since the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act was signed into law in 1921, dedicating 203,000 acres to benefit native Hawaiians.
