HB1394 Summary

• Expands acceptable continuing education providers for naturopathic physicians to include state or province naturopathic licensing boards and naturopathic medicine programs accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education, in addition to board-approved professional associations.

• Amends the definition of "continuing education courses" in Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 455-1 to clarify eligible course providers and reduce confusion among naturopathic physicians.

• Requires naturopathic physicians to document continuing education completion by submitting certificates that include the name of the approving state/province licensing board, university, college, or professional organization.

• Addresses the burden on board-approved organizations that previously had to approve all continuing education courses, even those already accredited by naturopathic medical schools or other licensing boards.

• Takes effect upon approval.
