HB 1425 Summary

• Increases the threshold for electioneering communication reporting from more than $1,000 to more than $2,000 in aggregate expenditures during a calendar year before statements of information must be filed with the commission.

• Redefines "disclosure date" to mean the date an electioneering communication is publicly distributed and the date any subsequent electioneering communications are publicly distributed, rather than the first date a person reaches the spending threshold.

• Removes the exemption for "actual expenditures by the expending organization" from the definition of electioneering communications.

• Requires filing of disclosure statements within twenty-four hours of each disclosure date when the higher $2,000 threshold is met.

• Takes effect upon approval.
