H.B. 1536 - Judiciary Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2022

• Amends Act 127, Session Laws of Hawaii 2021 to provide supplemental appropriations for the judiciary for fiscal years 2021-2023, increasing operating budgets across all judicial circuits and administrative offices.

• Increases capital improvement project funding from $13.3 million to $20.22 million, including projects for air conditioning upgrades at Aliiolani Hale, security improvements at Hoapili Hale, fire alarm and elevator upgrades at Kaahumanu Hale, and roof replacement at Kapuaiwa Building.

• Increases general obligation bond authorization from $8.086 million to $20.22 million to finance the expanded capital improvement projects listed in the act.

• Lapses appropriations from prior sessions under Act 195 (2017) and Act 61 (2011) totaling approximately $2.79 million to redirect funds toward current judiciary needs.

• Takes effect July 1, 2022 with an effective date covering the fiscal biennium beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2023.
