H.B. 1983 Summary

• Establishes a state media industry development liaison position within the creative industries division of the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism to plan and execute a statewide media industry development strategy.

• Liaison shall be appointed by the director of DBEDT without regard to civil service requirements under chapter 76.

• Appropriates $60,000 for fiscal year 2022-2023 to establish and fill the state media industry development liaison position (1.00 FTE exempt from civil service).

• Appropriates $33,600 for fiscal year 2022-2023 to establish and fill one administrative assistant position within the creative industries division.

• Preserves civil service status and duties for all existing positions within the film industry branch as of July 1, 2022; takes effect July 1, 2022.
