HI HB2050

Proposes amendment to Article 1 of Hawaii Constitution to establish that each person owns and has exclusive property rights in data they generate on public networked information systems such as the Internet.

Directs the legislature to determine which specific data are subject to this provision and how the provision shall be implemented and enforced.

Places constitutional amendment question on ballot asking: "Shall the constitution guarantee the right of each person to own and have an exclusive property right in the data that person generates on the Internet?"

Amendment takes effect upon compliance with Article XVII, Section 3 of the Hawaii Constitution.
