H.B. 2290 Summary

• Requires the State Auditor to conduct a management and financial audit of the University of Hawaii at Manoa's athletic department.

• Audit shall examine whether the athletic department fulfills its mission, review accountability, analyze budget expenditures, examine procurement procedures, and cover other matters deemed appropriate.

• Board of Regents, University President, and relevant staff must cooperate with the auditor and provide requested information.

• Auditor must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the legislature no later than twenty days before the 2023 regular session convenes.

• Appropriates funds from general revenues for fiscal year 2022-2023 to conduct the audit, effective July 1, 2022.
