HB2300 Summary

• Amends Chapter 663 of Hawaii Revised Statutes to grant immunity to the State and counties from liability for personal injuries or property damage arising from repair or maintenance of streets with disputed ownership or jurisdiction between the State and counties.

• Specifies that repair or maintenance work on disputed streets shall not confer or establish ownership or jurisdiction over that street to either the State or county.

• Applies to streets as defined in section 291C-1 where ownership or jurisdiction is in dispute between the State and a county, commonly referred to as "roads in limbo."

• Takes effect on July 1, 2022.
