Appropriates $300,000 from general revenues to the Hawaii Department of Agriculture for fiscal year 2022-2023 to provide education and support to local businesses regarding FDA industry guidance on colored sea salt products.

Addresses federal FDA requirements for sea salt manufacturers using color additives not currently approved for food use, which require approval through the FDA's color additive petition process.

Supports Hawaii-made sea salt products colored with Hawaiian charcoal, volcanic clay, and other natural ingredients to promote the State's brand and maintain the viability of the sea salt manufacturing industry.

Takes effect on July 1, 2022.
