Counties with populations of 200,000 or less must establish a five-year pilot project by January 1, 2023 to regulate hosting platforms that provide booking services for transient accommodation operators.

Defines "booking service" as reservation or payment services facilitating transient accommodation transactions between users and hosts.

Defines "hosting platform" as any person collecting fees directly or indirectly for conducting booking service transactions in the transient accommodations business.

Each qualifying county must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the legislature no later than twenty days before the 2028 regular session convenes.

Takes effect July 1, 2022 and automatically repeals on June 30, 2028.
