Beginning January 1, 2024, public schools and public charter schools may have at least one trained employee on duty to administer or assist with seizure rescue medication and vagus nerve stimulator magnets for students with seizure disorders.

School employees administering seizure medication must be trained either through a department-adopted program or by a physician, advanced practice registered nurse, or physician assistant on seizure recognition, treatment, and first aid.

All principals, guidance counselors, and teachers must complete at least one hour of annual self-study review of seizure disorder materials developed by medical professionals.

Schools with students certified as having seizure disorders may establish a seizure action plan identifying trained employees and contact methods, to be distributed to all supervising staff and kept on file.

Appropriates funds for fiscal year 2022-2023 to train public school and charter school employees to administer seizure rescue medication; effective date July 1, 2051.
