HB 395 Summary

• Requires military personnel ordered to active duty in Hawaii to be paid without delay from the date of deployment at the same rate as their active duty counterparts in the U.S. Armed Forces.

• Entitles officers, warrant officers, and enlisted personnel of the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Hawaii State Defense Force, and Navy to basic allowance for housing when ordered to active duty, subject to rules adopted by the governor.

• Provides service credit for time spent on active duty that counts toward public pension and retirement for individuals who are also current state or county employees.

• Allows military personnel to directly deposit their pay by electronic means to personal banking accounts.

• Takes effect on July 1, 2021.
