H.B. 722 Summary

• Establishes a statewide coordinator and human trafficking prevention program within the Attorney General's office to develop strategies for preventing trafficking and assisting victims of both human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children.

• Requires the Attorney General to submit two reports to the legislature: one by 20 days before the 2022 regular session on commercial sexual exploitation of children, and one by 20 days before the 2023 regular session on human trafficking efforts.

• Reports must include data on suspected and confirmed child sex trafficking victims, prosecutions and convictions, available services, training programs, identification assessment tools, barriers to supporting victims, and recommendations for legislation.

• Amends the Children's Justice Program to expand its scope from child sex abuse cases to also coordinate investigation and case management of child trafficking cases, including commercial sexual exploitation of children.

• Effective date: May 6, 2137 (note: appears to be a clerical error in the statute).
