H.B. 760 Summary

• Allows the works of art special fund to support performing arts in addition to visual art, provided performances are recorded and archived as State property.

• Defines "performing arts" to include dance, choreography, singing, music, theater, motion pictures, screenplays, and similar works intended for audience performance.

• Requires recorded performances to be maintained by the foundation or state art museum, with the State holding exclusive copyrights under the works made for hire doctrine.

• Permits display of performing art recordings at public presentation sites in formats determined by the comptroller and foundation to maximize public accessibility.

• Effective July 1, 2065.
