HB 782 Summary

• Allows spouses of active duty military members (National Guard, reserves, or armed forces) to obtain expedited licensure in Hawaii if accompanying their spouse on a permanent change of station to a Hawaii military installation

• Applicants must hold a current, unencumbered license in another jurisdiction in specified professions including accountants, nurses, physicians, engineers, architects, dentists, pharmacists, psychologists, and others

• Requires applicants to have been licensed for at least one year, meet minimum education and work experience requirements verified by the originating jurisdiction, and have no disciplinary history or pending complaints

• Authorizes temporary licenses while applicants complete any additional Hawaii requirements, valid for up to five years or the duration of the military member's orders of assignment, whichever is shorter

• Effective July 1, 3050 (note: appears to contain a typographical error in the effective date)
