Establishes a sister-state relationship between Hawaii and the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Portugal

Madeira is an autonomous region located in the northern Atlantic approximately 500 miles southwest of Lisbon, consisting of inhabited islands Madeira and Porto Santo, plus the Desertas Islands and Selvagens Islands

Hawaii and Madeira share historical ties beginning with 180 Madeiran contract laborers arriving in Honolulu Harbor on September 30, 1878, followed by approximately 8,000 Madeiran immigrants over the next three decades who worked on sugarcane plantations

Madeiran immigrants contributed cultural elements to Hawaii including the braguinha (which became the ukulele), linguiça (Portuguese sausage), and cattle-herding traditions that shaped Hawaii's paniolo culture

Requires transmission of certified copies of the concurrent resolution to the U.S. Secretary of State, Portuguese Ambassador to the United States, Hawaii Governor, Madeira Regional Government President, Portuguese Honorary Consul in Hawaii, Director of Business/Economic Development/Tourism, and Hawaii Sister-State Committee Chairperson
