HI HCR62

Urges the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands to notify native Hawaiian beneficiaries through beneficiary consultation (minimum 45-day input period) before disposing of Hawaiian home lands or granting leases to non-beneficiaries.

Requests the Department refrain from disposing of retained available lands unless no applicants on the waitlist seek leases under the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act.

Requires the Department to obtain evidence that non-beneficiary lessees have entered into a homestead beneficiary agreement providing amenities and funding to homestead associations as a condition of land disposition.

Directs the Department to submit quarterly reports to the Legislature and beneficiaries on inventory of formerly leased properties and disposition status, and to post this information on its website with auctions conducted at least twice per year.

Prohibits the Department from establishing additional criteria for native Hawaiians to lease Hawaiian home lands without beneficiary consultation.
